Introducing Yakadoodle-a-day

I have doodled almost every day of my life for as long as I can remember. I do it because I love it. Drawing is a part of me and when I go too long without drawing I tend to get grumpy. In the past these sketches have just gone into a portfolio never to be seen again. I created this daily blog as a way to document and share this aspect of myself as an artist.

I don’t know that I would call these works drawings, because they aren’t particularly deliberate; they are fast and dirty, and like a lot of fast and dirty things they are fun.  I’m also not sure that I would call them doodles because they require a bit of time and focus. They are Yakadoodles, simply a celebration of the mark and a fascination with the repetitive, and the exploration of what happens when the two meet. I hope you enjoy them!

I’m moving!

Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you know that I am moving to a new apartment here in Portland. I won’t be posting any quilling this month, because I won’t be quilling. I’ll have new work early next month.

Thanks,

Sarah

A tribute to Chuck Palahniuk’s Rant: An Oral Biography of Buster Casey

This poster is inspired by my favorite book Rant: An Oral Biography of Buster Casey by Chuck Palahniuk. For this piece I tried to capture the magic and surrealism that oozes from the book.
